Recieved this email this morn (some of u may have the same).

We are delighted to let you know that this morning the
Government is announcing an extra £340 million for services for disabled
children and their families. This announcement is the result of all the
fantastic campaigning and lobbying work by our supporters since the campaign
launched last September.

This new money will start to transform the
lives of disabled children and their families - so huge thanks to all our
supporters for signing up, emailing MPs, and generally pushing government to
deliver what families so badly need; this announcement represents the success of
all your efforts.

The report of the Disabled Children's Review, 'Aiming
higher for disabled children', is being launched today by Ministers. We are
confident that it will address campaign priorities including more and better
short break services, improved access to childcare, and more support for young
disabled people in transition to adulthood.

The Ministers will be
giving more details of the plans this morning, and we will publish them on our
website as soon as we can. You can see our news story and check for further
updates here:

The
report of the review will be available on our website later this morning under
'Latest' on our homepage.

Today's announcement is just the beginning.
EDCM will continue to campaign hard for more support and services for disabled
children and their families - and we will continue to need your help! Please
email this on to your contacts, asking them to sign up at http://www.edcm.org.uk now, so that we can
show government that there is more still to do.

If you have any questions
for us, please get in touch by replying to this email or calling 020 7843
6318.

Thanks again and best wishes,
Pam

As highlighted on Monday, the report of the Disabled Children's Review - 'Aiming
High for Disabled Children: Better Support for Families' - has been launched.
The report sets out the key elements of the £340 million funding package for
disabled children, which includes:

- a specific grant of £280m to deliver
a step change in the provision of short breaks
- £35m to pilot accessible
childcare
- £19m for a Transition Support Programme, modelled on the Early
Support programme but focussed on young disabled people in transition to
adulthood
- £5m to help more parents get involved in shaping services at a
local level, including through parents forums.

To download 'Aiming high
for disabled children' and find out more go to:
http://www.edcm.org.uk/aiminghigh

Straight
after the government's announcement at Number 11 Downing Street, Ed Balls MP,
Economic Secretary, spoke about the new measures through You Tube. This was the
Ministerial launch of the report, where five Ministers from four government
departments stated their commitment to making every disabled child
matter.

You can watch Ed speaking from the launch on You Tube and post
questions and comments for him. This is a chance for you to find out more about
what the review means for you.

Thanks
again for all your support that made the outcome of the review a
success.

Best wishes

Pam
