Dd speech is improving, she can answer very simple questions eg what did you play with? answer, bikes etc sometimes she tells us one item she had for lunch but not everything. We get more info out of her if speech is on her own terms then she can talk quite alot. Something happened last week and I tried to ask her why she did it, she didnt understand what why means and shouted oh no at me which is what she says when she dosent understand. Does anyone have any ideas how I can help her to understand what why means? I think she would also gain by being able to ask me why aswell, I think that would relive alot of her frustration.

Wow this is a tough one hun, is there any social stories that could help? i dont know off hand but u can try 'sandbox learning' here is the link:

http://www.sandbox-learning.com/

I found it useful with helping T to understand 'waiting' as he doesnt cope well in this area at all, like anything its trial & error but then anything is worth a try.
