My son started back at school last Tuesday and on Thursday we got the forms for which school he wants too transfer too.

Well anyways at the moment we have it down to a possible two one is a mainstream secondary the other is mainstream with an unit for kids with Autism but for him too go there he needs a firm Diagnosis of Autism and not Autistic tendencies which is what he has right now. But anyways there is a new way of diagnosing autism now so he is top of the list for that.

Typical, I really hope you can get a firm diagnosis so you can get him in the school with a unit. Honestly between the incompetence of the health service diagnosing (or not) children and the state of the ed system in alot of areas I wonder how we all stay sane. My advice is to put the school with the unit as your no 1 choice, good luck hun xxx

Well misty my big problem with the school with the unit is its a good 30 minute journey to school and also it is a really big school aswell with over 1000 pupils so i dunno how he would cope with that. So he would probly have a really early start and also he would need to have transport because there is no buses and it is also a really bad road to travel om.

The local catchment school is obviously a lot nearer though and well we have put in for a housing transfer to be even nearer to it.
Apart from that though there is other reasons for us wanting to move i hate living here all the kids bully my son and in fact last week we had the police out coz one little brat was running at our front door and kicking it so hard he put a hole in the door.

Has for the diagnosis there is a new way to diagnose now so my Son is gonna go through that assessment programme. It involves everyone who knows him ed psych, school, clinical psych, pead and his special needs nurse so we should get a definate diagnosis. In fact they are haveing a meeting today about it. My Son's special needs nurse thinks he will only need to see the pead though, because he is so well known to everyone else heh. But anyways time will tell.

Thank you Grandma for the nice welcome back. Its good to be back Wink huggss

Good luck hun and i hope u get what is best for ur son.

I am in the process of appeal at the mo, meeting is next Tues and i will know whether T gets to attend a school with the right resources for his needs.

I know what u mean about a firm diagnosis, the longer the diagnosis is held back the less it will cost the system but what worries me is that our children still go without the help & support needed Sad

What is this new way of diagnosing Autism?

okey heres my update they all met yesterday to see whats what and it seems like my Son just needs to see the pead sometime. So she's gonna phone the pead's secretary too see how long we have to wait for an appointment.

I just hope its not too long because his SEN review will probly be due in Oct/Nov time and the forms for his secondary school have to be back in by the 19th October.......*sigh* again

Tbh Grandma i am feeling a bit down at the moment aswell. We are having a pretty rough time with people who live near us.

We had to have the police out last week coz one little so and so was kicking our front door now another kid has started being really horrible aswell shouting stuff at us. So anyways i guess we will be on the phone to our tenancy enforcement offcer. I am so tired and sick of the ignorant gits that live here. Anyways we are putting in for a housing transfer right away from this county so hopefully we wont have long to wait. I dont know how much longer i can take all this crap we get.

Thanks Misty so much i do appreciate all the support i get from everyone on this forum hugggssss

I guess that because my Son is "Different" it scares them so this is their way of dealing with it. But they dont give him a chance to even get know to him. Like i said to someone last week we live in a small town with a lot of small minded people in it. Hopefully we wont have long to wait for a move though.

Thanks for all your support though huggggssss

Aww, Sarah, some people are such jerks!

I can't offer any advice I'm afraid, but I sincerely hope that the old adage holds true in that "what goes around, comes around". After all, once you're miles away and happy then they'll have to find someone else to pick on and it might just be one of their own. That'll serve them right!

Big hug hug hug and never forget that you are better than all of them rolled into one!

Well the old adage What goes around comes around has come true in my life a few times so hopefully it will again M2C.

I do dread to think what would happen if some of the ones that are being horrible to us ends up with a kid with Autism though.

M2C sometimes its just nice for me to be able to write down whats going on though so i can get it clear in my own head i do however appreciate all your replies though. So Thank you all so much

huggsssss

Believe it or not Grandma i do feel a bit better then i did when i first made this thread.

I am managing to keep away from one woman who lives on our road who caused a few problems for me. It seemed to me like she was trying to drag me back into depression and well when i was depressed i did get myself better. So anyways now i dont want to go back into depression i do know that i will still have bad days though but everyone has bad days. But when i think about this time last year when i was badly depressed there is no way i can put my hubby or my kids through that again.

Anyways i have my son's birthday to look forward too tomorrow i cant believe he's 11 already WoW where do the years go Wink

Sarah hugging Im so pleased you have the diagnosis, that is wonderfull news and Im pleased you have made a decision about the school.

I understand about the depression, I too was deeply depressed around this time last year and it took me a very long time to come out of it, I felt at times like I never would. Keep your spirits up. Huge hugging so pleased for you and have a lovely day for your sons birthday, wow 11 I hope he has a wonderfull day.
