| I went to collect Charlotte from school and FOUND HER OUTSIDE!!!!!!!!! The chool has a huge red gate which is opened for parent to enter to collect their children and it stands against a wall. Luckily, there is a space between the gate and the wall, just big enough for a 5 year old to fit through, and that is where I found her. Totally unaccompanied. She could have gone anywhere, and in the melee that is picking up time I wouldn't have seen her (she's quite petite, anyway) and I wouldn't have expeceted her to be there anyway, she should have been in her classroom waiting for me to collect her. Am sending the Head a strongly worded email, but I needed to tell someone first. Anything could have happened to her.... | |

| that is not acceptable, the least you can expect from school is that your child is safe, make sure you request a face to face meeting with the head, you will be able to tell better about his body language isf you see him face to face. make sure you get the answers you want ands don't get fobbed off | |

| Sent the Head an email voicing my feelings and reminding them that they have a duty of care to C, and that they breached that.
I received a reply which basically said not very much at all, but the head will be "catching up with me tomorrow".
I can't begin to tell you how horrified I was....I could so easily have walked straight past her, in fact I almost did! If it weren't for the fact that she has such an unusual hair colour (it's red like a fox cub!) then I WOULD have just kept going!
Tomorrow should be interesting.....

| If this carries on with school, then it will probably overheat!! I have heard some very nasty stories from a couple of parents from school, so I reckon a few teachers will be lined up against the wall and we can all see exactly what the big shiny machine gun can do! | |

| I had to send a second email last night as nothing had happened, and (hopefully) I've successfully cut and pasted it:
Oooh, yes I have!!
(It starts at the bottom!)
Hello Carol Yes - sorry for the delay. There has been a problem with the security lock on the door which has meant that it got stuck open or at least no longer child proof. We are working to resolve this! In addition Charlotte had gone off to collect her lunch box and then gone out through the door after an encounter with one of the Y3 pupils who was in the cloakroom. Charlotte told me today that she then hid between the bars of the red gates. I am aware that she is fond of hiding! In response we have made sure that D A will be with Charlotte when she leaves the classroom at vulnerable times such as the end of the school day, to ensure that she gets from a to b safely. We are all deeply sorry that the incident yesterday occurred and have looked today at how we can make things even better. Naturally whilst we would expect pupils to follow routines and know to come back to the classroom, we understand that Charlotte finds this difficult and that it has been unsettling for her with Mrs C away. We are helping Miss C come up to speed with Charlottes needs as quickly as possible.
Regarding your concerns about Charlotte being out of the classroom, this is happening at periods during the day where she is finding the classroom environment stressful. For example last Friday she came up to tell me that school was not making any sense to her that day. At these times we are managing her PDA as best we can, aware that direct confrontation places additional stress so have been using diversionary tactics such as going with myself or Mrs A to do "important jobs" and then working our way back to class. We are planning transition work for next week with Charlotte once she knows who her new teacher will be. This information will come out with annual reports and newsletter this Friday. On Monday morning the children will spend part of the morning in their new classroom with their new teacher. We anticipate doing some additional getting to know you time with Charlotte and the staff she will be working with next year during the remaining days before the end of term. Please be assured that we do have Charlottes best interests as heart and are doing the best we can to meet her needs.
Thanks for your comments about the disco, Charlotte was very excited this afternoon about "the ball" and was very keen to know what the staff would be wearing! She got changed early so she could" have a practice in her ball gown" and we felt it important that she did this as we were aware that she might not stay at the actual event if there were too many people or noise. It was lovely to see her enjoying herself! I hope she didn't go pop with all of the sweet items she purchased!
Do pop in for a chat if you have any further concerns, we are very appreciative of your support Regards G

| Whats important here is that you are happy with the answers they gave you and you now feel that C is safe, it is right that when out of the classroom someone should be with her, especially knowing what she's like, so why was that not done before? a bit like shutting the door after the horse has bolted x | |

| It's that lovely little legal phrase "duty of care"....
Funnily enough she has been escorted from her classroom for the last two days. I can't imagine why......

| Things like this really get me annoyed, where I was working I picked up loads of things that were wrong but I was ignored, then when what I predicted happend they would then make the changes and make out it was their idea. Ask Grandma how annoying I was working with her as I could see problems that nobody had even thought about, I think it's the paranoia in me | |

| My mum is like that too, she drives me potty giving me scenarios that nobody else could possibly think of! It's annoying for 90% of the time, but it's good to have someone who sees something from every possible angle. I reckon Grandma can take it! More power to you elbow Kebab! There should be more people like you! | |
